Public Works employees are currently installing leak detection sensors on a number of homes and businesses in the community. Only app. half of the homes and businesses in Wabamun will require this installation. The leak detectors send signals to our staff that notify us of any leaks that are occurring between sensors. They do not detect leaks in the building but rather they detect leaks on the main water lines and service lines that feed the property. The sensors will be installed on the line ahead of your water meter and a sending unit will be placed on a wall in close proximity to the meter. There is no cost to the resident or business owner. These devices are small and require little space and nothing is required except to allow our staff in to complete the installation. It is important that the sensors are installed in the specified homes to ensure that we correct all leaks as soon as possible so that our water system operates as efficiently as possible. This will allow the Village to keep costs to the consumer as low as possible. This is especially important as we move to regional water.
If our staff was at your home or business and you weren’t there a door hanger will be placed on your door letting you know that the Village of Wabamun Public Works staff was there to install waterline leak detection sensors and no one was present. We would then ask you to call the Office at 780-892-2699 as soon as possible to set up an installation date and time. The installation normally will only take 10 minutes or less. The Village office hours are from 8:30am – noon and 1pm – 4:30 pm.
Thanks for your cooperation.
